Mind and Body

One of the things you will learn about me is that I love fitness! Struggling with anxiety and depression over the years I have found that working out was the best cure. I call it free therapy! Keeping a healthy body and mind is extremely important. It is important to be not only physically healthy but mentally healthy as well. I found that in those times of being anxious, putting on some upbeat music, and doing 25-30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical made a HUGE difference. I was allowed to go into my own little bubble, put on some trashy reality tv program in the gym and just go. My mind came out so much clearer afterwards and my body felt amazing. I have also found that clean eating is another factor that plays into my overall well being. So whether it's a 10 minute walk with your dog or 45 minutes at the gym, helping keep your mind at ease is extremely important. I have had to learn how to manage my anxiety and channel it in the healthiest way possible.

After reading Kristin Cavallari's book "Balancing in Heels" I started to rethink the foods I was putting into my body. I am a junkie at heart! I love CHOCOLATE, oh my goodness how I can go to town on a pan of brownies. My other weakness: Snyders Honey Mustard Pretzels, oh I could polish off that bag. But after being at the beach with my friends and not feeling super confident about my little pooch I decided enough was enough. I started to play around with food to see if it would also help my ever changing moods. I wanted to see just how much a clean diet would affect not only my overall body but my mind as well. I can tell you from personal experience it has had a major impact. Not only do I look better but I feel better overall.

Yes I have been blessed by a great metabolism but I've never been stick skinny, I've been blessed with a more curvy muscular body type. In the past it has been about losing weight but now it's about becoming toned and overall healthy. I don't starve myself HELL NO! Don't do it! No, I eat whatever I want I am just learning to eat better. My main inspiration for all of this is my favorite country singer Jessie James Decker. She's amazing (go listen to her music she is bad ass). Like me she is a little over 5 feet and struggled with gaining and losing weight over the years. She started on this path of working out and clean eating and boy does she look amazing! She is someone I look up too not just for her music but her overall lifestyle. So I just want to share some things that have helped me and my journey to being healthy and my fit self.
